Today, the Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada, announced more than $15.6 million through the Humanitarian Workforce Program to strengthen the Canadian Red Cross’s readiness to respond when disasters occur. In May 2026, the Government renewed the Humanitarian Workforce Program and committed $108 million to strengthen Canada’s disaster response capacity. Today’s investment is the first project announced as part of that renewal, and additional projects will follow.
